The Dutch put on another stunning display to destroy World Cup finalists France, in what was an action packed match. It was the second elusive scalp they’d taken in the matter of four days. Quite simply the Dutch were a masterclass above their experienced opponents and very much deserved the win. For 30 minutes in the first half, the French struggled to even touch the ball, but once Ribery got into the game things started to turn for the them, although they were’nt clinical enough to capitalise on their chances and instead were made to pay.
The Dutch played out of their skin and Kuyt, Sneijder, van Bronckhorst, van Nistelrooy and van der Vaart played tirlessly and chased down everything.
At 1-0 up, van Basten made some ballsy subs by bringing on Robben and van Persie… quality subs to have at your disposal and they turned the game on its head. Within minutes Robben had broken down the left flank and sent in a thunderous cross for RvP to volley home. It purely was a great game to watch and based on form I’m backing the Netherlands to make the finals this year, where they’ll meet Portugal.
