A massive game this round at the Bridge, with mid-week UCL struggles Chelsea up against mid-week FA Cup flops Man City. Another slip up by the Blues will see United and Arsenal back in contention for the title, whereas a win for City could lock in fourth spot as Tottenham host an in form Everton… whatever the case this weekend is surely going to be huge! And this is how I picked ‘em.

I predict:
Chelsea 2 v 1 Man City
Birmingham 2 v 1 Wigan
Bolton 1 v 1 Wolves
Burnley 1 v 0 Portsmouth
Stoke City 1 v 3 Arsenal
Tottenham 2 v 2 Everton
Liverpool 1 v 1 Blackburn
Sunderland 1 v 2 Fulham

Ah, I love cross town rivalries. They really do warm the heart. Nothing screams “Fuck you neighbour!” quite like a few fake dives, a bad penalty decision and two goals by the same player, that only a mere 6 months ago was plying his trade for the opposing team… oh and how could I forget the taunting goal celebrations!
The scene is now set for what should be an interesting return leg at Old Trafford, where I have a sneaking suspicion Tevez just might get an ear full right back at him… but it’s just a sneaking suspicion:

Don’t look now Fergie, Carlito is quickly climbing the top goal scorers list and better yet, with 10 goals in 8 games, he’s single-handedly helping Mancini’s City jump into fourth place! The only way this would be cooler is if there were some sort of 80′s style montage stitching together this feat and their inevitable rise to the top*. And while you consider that, let’s not forget my almost perfect score predictions this week, even if there were only 3 matches played… damn you Arsenal!

Gameweek score:
2 out of 3

Results:
Arsenal 2 v 2 Everton
Birmingham 1 v 1 Man Utd
Man City 4 v 1 Blackburn

When Chelsea scored their early goal, I thought City were in for one helluva night, but much to my surprise and no doubt the millions watching, they were able to out-muscle and out-play the Blues at their own game. It almost reminded me of the time I went to that strip joint and started shooting ping pong balls at all the girls on stage with my air gun. Ok, so they got a little annoyed at first, but it’s only cause I was shooting out 4 per second and they were having to manually load once every other drunk dude. Don’t hate the player ladies!…

A gripping match with end-to-end action in the rain at the middle Eastlands last night.

This was the first time in about a million or so games that City didn’t <del>concede stupid goals</del> draw; coincidentally it was the second time in a mere 4 days that Arsenal were out muscled by a stronger, more experienced opponent. What I want to know is when will Arsene Wenger learn? Yes it’s great that he has talented youngsters, but doesn’t he want to start winning shit? After seeing his seniors get ripped apart by City last time the two teams met, sending his younglings into this match was probably not the smartest move and then to top it off he didn’t even have the decency to shake Mark Hughes’ hand after his team were beaten. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t shake Hughes’ hand either, but that’s for different matters entirely. My point here is, next time a snotty Frenchman offers to babysit your kids, kindly tell him to fuck off cause there’s no doubt they’ll be thrown to the wolves to fend for themselves… you know just to see how well they can handle the pressures of being hunted down and savagely slaughtered.

Noticeable absentee: Emmanuel Adebayor" />
I’ve been a little reluctant to bring up Manchester Ciy’s summer of spending and thats mainly cause all they seem to have bought with their Emirate oil money, is a bunch of overpriced strikers! At last count I’m pretty sure they had about 9 of them (Adebayor, Bellamy, Benjani, Robinho, Santa Cruz, Tevez, Bojinov, Caicedo, Evans, and a couple of midfielders who can also mix it up front). I mean seriously, at what point do you say enough is enough OR we need some defenders? Anyway, regardless of the playing stock, me thinks it’s going to be one hellofa nightmare for Hughes to handle so many inflated egos, (just quietly he ain’t no Mourinho) and if the teams performs as badly as it did last night against South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs… then Mark Hughes will be in for a very short trip on the money express.

Oh and just in case you didn’t get it the first two times… that was “EVER”!
I think United can kiss their quintuple goodbye… especially if they keep playing the way they did last night.

Well i guess it helps when you have some of the world best youngsters on your team, but that’s just one of the perks when you’re Argentinian I guess. On another note… and I don’t want to sound like a cynic here, but have you noticed that all the press has been about Maradona… say as opposed to the actual team or players themselves? All the stories are being spun around ‘El Diez’ at the moment and I can’t help but feel that the media attention is slowly starting to fuel the beast within… I hope I’m wrong, but that could mean trouble like days of ‘ol and no one wants that!
