These predictions may be a little late, but they’re up and being the last game of the season ‘n all, I think I could be forgiven. Our friends at Heads or Tails, who have done a remarkable job all year providing us with La Liga predictions suggest that even though the title will stay in Barcelona, they have to be weary of Valladolid who 4 years ago foiled the Blagauruna’s attempts at claiming the title, allowing Madrid to celebrate instead.
Lastly, seeing as none of the other positions have been decided going into the final round, this weekend is definitely going to see some tough battles and possibly even some surprises.

For the last time this season, here’s how they picked the rest of ‘em.

Predictions:
Atletico Madrid 1 v 2 Getafe
Almería 1 v 2 Sevilla
Osasuna 1 v 3 Xerez
Valencia 1 v 2 Tenerife
Malaga 1 v 3 Real Madrid
Barcelona 3 v 1 Valladolid
Athletic Bilbao 3 v 1 Deportivo
Zaragoza 1 v 2 Villarreal
Mallorca 3 v 1 Espanyol
Racing Santander 2 v 0 Sporting Gijón

Right, we’re nearing mid week and with no European obligations looks like I’ll have to settle for some La Liga action instead… on a week night!? The world really has gone mad; well mad for Lionel Messi anyway.
My counterparts over at Heads or Tails are still searching the Spanish equivalent of the Oxford dictionary for an adjective to describe the young man. But does it exist?
All I know is that some media outlets in España are claiming the young Argentine to be the greatest player in the history of football… whoa, easy there fellas! Till he single-handedly wins a World Cup , I don’t think he can claim that title, but he’s definitely up there with the best of them.
So enough with the speculation and onto the err… calculated speculation(?) And here’s how they picked ‘em this week:

Sevilla 2 v 1 Xerez
While Valladolid’s use of force on Portuguese pin-up boy Cristiano Ronaldo has generally been condemned in the media, their coach Onesimo claims CRon is a provocative player who got his justs worth… I’m claiming that his slicked back hair and plucked eyebrows had more of a role to play in the inflicted malice but, that’s metrosexuality these days.
Never the less over on the other side of the country, we face a bag of challenges as it looks like the brutaliy dangerous Barcelona and Lionel Messi are hitting top form again and scoring at will… look out world even Thierry Henry has woken from his mid-season siesta and has started scoring again. Are Barca well on their way for more silverware!?

Expecting to get a result when you visit Camp Nou is almost as dangerous as bragging to a mob boss about your conquests a week ago with his 18yr old daughter and if you can somehow stay alive or manage to flee the planet after pulling off such a feat, you’re almost deserving of the trophy then and there… but let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet, there are still 90min to be played in this tie and as is stands Barca have the upper hand with their away goal, so the onus is on Ze Germans to attack. Something tells me they shouldn’t have any problems doing that. Can they pull an amazing performance out of their battle hats though and get away with knocking the socks off the mob bosses daughter on his turf? I think the answer is quite simple really. It’ll be highly unlikely!… and this is how I picked the rest of ‘em.

I predict:
Barcelona 3 v 1 Stuttgart
Bordeaux 1 v 1 Olympiacos

Going two-nil up against Barca is the layman’s equivalent of getting Sienna Miller and Kate Moss in the sack… at the same time! So you could imagine how excited the boys from Madrid must have been when Simao buried his free kick and Atleti’s second into the back of Victor Valdes’ net last night. They were licking their lips and rubbing their hands in glee till Zlatan popped up and things got a little tense (aka Sienna had to sneak out and head home). They did manage to hold out of course and at the end of the 90min, (you still had Kate twisted like a pretzel) not only did they walk away as happy as Larry, they managed to break a 21 match unbeaten streak in the process… not bad for a night’s work, if I do say so myself!

Sorry, no Sienna or Kate, just action from from the match:

WARNING: THIS POST IS HUGE!
Today our amigos at Heads or Tails warn us to expect Barcelona’s first defeat of the season and a chance for Real Madrid to close the gap at the top of the table to just 2 points! Barca are short on defensive players the likes of Dani Alves, Abidal, Pique, Marquez, Chigrinskiy and Touré, which leaves Puyol, Maxwell and Milito as the only first team defensive players available for the match… um, that’s not a good thing given that Kun Agüero and Diego Forlan will be knocking on their door. And this is how the rest of the weekend was predicted.

Predictions:
Sporting Gijon 1 v 1 Valencia
Xerez 1 v 4 Real Madrid
Villarreal 2 v 1 Athletic Bilbao
Getafe 1 v 1 Almeria
Atlético Madrid 3 v 2 FC Barcelona

As expected both Real and Barca took their respective teams to the cleaners this weekend… I have the receipt if you don’t believe me, even though Barca finished the match with 9 men against a resilient Getafe. It was an amicable performance by the visitors, cause playing against 9 men of Barca is similar to playing any other full strength team in La Liga… outside of the top two. As for the rest of the round is was pretty average and so were the predictions by our friends Heads or Tails.

Gameweek score:
5 out of 10

Results:

Don’t let their salmon coloured kit fool you, Barcelona are a deadly outfit, especially when their ‘Atomic Flea’ Lio Messi is firing… and didn’t Tenerife find out the hard way! So the Blaugrana got back to winning ways after a little stumble into the new year, which mind you I’m simply blaming on the few too many and well earned celebratory Sangias over the festive period. Our amigos at Heads or Tails on the other hand, must still be celebrating the new year cause they were neither here nor there with this weeks predictions, so I’ll put that one down to them getting the bad ones out of their system early and saving the best for the rest of the year… I’ve been feeling generous lately and I’m such a caring guy you see… just ask your sister, she’ll tell ya.
