Day 3 musings and highlights

Another action packed day at the Jumierah beach soccer stadium and another day when I think my obsessive fascination with cheer leaders has reached crisis level. I would sound the alarm, but there’s still 4 days left in this tournament, so I ain’t pulling the plug just yet! Teams to have made the next cut [...]

16 - 22 November, Dubai 2009

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup kicks off today on Jumeirah Beach and I’m going to be heading down there as often as I can to get in on it. Having to ‘work for the man’ means I don’t get the pleasure of being able to frolic around Dubai chasing the copious amounts of women [...]

Wow, that wasn’t meant to happen was it?I’ve been thinking about what to right all day and for once, I’m gob smacked! If you want details watch them below… I need a moment to reevaluate shit right now. Match highlights: Older USMNT news:Confed Cup – They Finished Second!? Egypt 0 v 3 USA

Judging by the highlights below, it seemed as though Spain were the only team on the attack, whilst their opposition hid in caves continuously tried to catch them on the counter. With laser-like precision (or not), España hit their opposition with wave after wave of attack, almost like they were dropping bombs in the Middle East, so it doesn’t really surprise me that Iraq were on the receiving end again… will that country ever get a break!?

Confed Cup - New Zealand 0 v 5 Spain

C’mon, as if you didn’t know that Fernando Torres and co were going to shit this one in? I must admit though, the 17 minute hat-trick was a bit of a surprise… was there actually another team playing!? It was complete domination and the Spaniards were playing at some sort of divine pace… so I [...]

Shhh… listen carefully… can you hear that? No, I didn’t think so… that’s the sound the England fans made at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Seville last night after a dissapointing match by the visitors. Leading up to the game, both teams were in form with Eng-err-land unbeaten in 5 and España unbeaten in [...]

Once again I must apologise for my tardy post on this topic, but I couldn’t help partying with the hundreds of thousands of people on the streets of Vienna after the match and then the next morning, after about one hour of shut-eye, I was boarding a plane to come home.So by now there’s no [...]

This match is being built up in the media like it’s a final in itself. Both teams are itching to taste European glory for the first time in decades and it’s only a matter of time before we find out who will take on ze Germans in the final. Spain were the last team to [...]

Group leaders Spain left it late again to pinch 3 points from the grasp of the Greeks and round up what was a dismal tournament by the defending champs. Both teams exchanged blows early on, but never really capitalised till Greece’s ’04 Golden-boy Angelos Charisteas popped his head up just before half time and buried [...]

Losing a match in stoppage time is one of the most demoralising things that can happen to you in football and for that I almost feel bad for Sweden. They possibly deserved a draw from this match cause even though they were the underdogs going into the game, they still played as well as they [...]

This is going to be an interesting match up cause both teams won their first game of the tournament and another win will put either of them through to the next round. Out of the two, Spain impressed me most cause they kept possession and passed the ball around a lot better than what the [...]

I had big expectations of the Russians going into this tournament and thought that they would provide the youthful Spanish side with some major headaches. As it turns out it went the other way and the Spaniards were able to capitalise on a naive Russian defense. Iniesta’s passing was superb all night and they really [...]

spain-football-boyby stuseaGreat composition, awesome lighting and overall a warming shot. Notice that the boy and the ball are the only things moving horizontally, while the surroundings are dominated by vertical lines and objects.
