In July of this year, the search began to find Australia’s new football manager that would take the team through to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In August, media reports suggested that Dick Advocaat, current coach of FC Zenit St. Petersburg, was the front-runner for the role and had agreed terms with the senior heads of the FFA. So today, we’re down to the dribble end of this 5 month piss take and still no decision has been reached by Dutchman Dick, Australia still has no head coach and is forced to go into their friendly match against Nigeria next week with their other Dutchman and technical director, Rob Baan, temporarily at the helm.
12th October - On his pending decision to join Australia:
A lot still will hinge on whether we win the league or not".
13th November - Victorious Zenit St. Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat is remaining tight-lipped on his future after leading the club to the Russian championship.
A decision has been made but it remains an internal affair. An announcement will be made soon," Advocaat said after the game.
As far as I’m concerned, Dick has started to shrivel and is firing blanks at the moment. If he’s going to win over my love and affection he has a hell of a lotta foreplay ahead of him. This is a poor position to be in, on Australia’s behalf; with legs wide open they’re either going to get gently caressed or fucked, yet all they can do is keep their legs open till Dick is ready. How much longer it’ll take, only he knows; he is torn between his current lover, willing to pay about $4.5million to keep him on and his new mistress, offering a mere $2.5m, yet carrying less baggage. The headaches of being a day-to-day club manager in Russia don't really appeal to him anymore which could work in Australia’s favor, I just hope that whatever his decision, it comes quickly and has a happy ending. *badoom ching!*
